Reduce and manage spam using common email software such as Outlook, Outlook Express and Entourage
|
If you are receiving the same or similar unsolicited mail, one can create a Mail Rule within your email software to filter unwanted messages.
If you use Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Microsoft Entourage to send and receive email, Web Studio Seattle recommends the use of Mail Rules. Rules are filters that inspect incoming messages for the culprit text that identifies them as spam.
For example, many unsolicited email messages contain the word 'free'. By creating a rule that deletes or sorts all messages containing the word 'free', one quickly and easily reduces spam. There are many options for configuring your mail rules to handle unwanted incoming email.
Creating mail rules is quick and easy:
In Outlook Express 6 for Windows, rules can be configured via TOOLS > Message Rules > Mail.
In Microsoft Entourage for Mac OS X, access the rules control panel via TOOLS > Rules.
